Can I Do The SAT Test Prep All By Myself?

For some reason many high school students think there is an easy way to get a high score at the SAT and that is by learning individually from books and doing many practice tests. This is actually valid for many students and they do get high scores. For that reason, there is a big debate whether expensive courses like Kaplan or Princeton Review, which actually have some good results, are worth it and whether you could not do the same good job with SAT test prep books you can find at any local bookstore.

The truth is that the SAT is not designed only for wealthy parents who can send their child to SAT classes. Maybe the only real effect these classes have is that you will somewhat be forced to study a lot so you will actually learn some good strategies and get a higher SAT, but this is for the unmotivated student. The really motivated student who owns as his only dream to get a scholarship or get into a renowned university, just some good books, a study guide and practice tests will do the job. This kind of student will work night and day and take the exam seriously so he will be much more prepared.

You can take SAT test prep very seriously and you may not need any kind of courses. You should only take advantage of the free resources you find all over the internet and buy some good books, which will cost much less than a course. You can find good strategy, which you can use, all by yourself or create study groups with your colleagues and help each other out.

In the end, it all comes down to how motivated you are and how much time and passion you are willing to put into the SAT test prep.
